What is a grill menu board?

A grill menu board is the screen listing skewers and grilled plates with prices. Run on a TV it loops the shop's name, the grill list with prices, one platter offer and the hours, so what is on the coals tonight is what the screen says.

This board runs on

Any screen with a modern browser. There is no media player box to buy and nothing to install: you open a link on the TV, pair it once, and change what it shows from your phone.

It is authored at 16:9, so stand the TV the usual way and the board fills it.

Questions people actually ask

What should a kebab shop board show late at night?
Fewer lines, bigger type, and the platter. Late trade is decided fast and often from further back in a queue that is not reading carefully, so a board that works at eleven at night is not the board that works at lunch. The practical version is one loop with a short night slide added, rather than two boards to maintain.
Should the board show a picture of the food?
One good picture on the offer slide, and none on the price list. A photograph behind a price list is the most common reason a board becomes unreadable: the type sits on a busy image, the contrast collapses, and the words that carry the money are the first thing lost. If a picture is doing work, give it a slide of its own where it is not fighting anything.
Can one screen serve both the counter and the window?
Only if both are read from a similar distance, which is rare. A window is read from the pavement and a counter from a metre away, so a single board is either too big inside or too small outside. Two screens running the same deck at different shapes is the usual answer, and the second screen is where our per screen pricing starts to matter, so price it before you commit.
How do I keep the board honest about what is on the grill?
Mark what has gone rather than editing the list. A strike keeps the price visible and answers the question the counter is being asked anyway, and it costs one tap from whoever is standing at the grill. Boards go stale because the update is a chore, so the only version that survives is the one that takes seconds on a phone.
