What is a vertical biryani menu board?

A biryani menu board is the screen listing biryanis and their prices at a counter. On a TV it loops the house name, the biryani list with prices, one family handi offer and the hours, so a sold out variety is marked the moment the pot goes.

This board runs on

Any screen with a modern browser. There is no media player box to buy and nothing to install: you open a link on the TV, pair it once, and change what it shows from your phone.

It is authored at 9:16, so stand the TV on its end and the board fills it.

Questions people actually ask

Why stand a TV on its end for a biryani house?
Because the wall usually decides. A biryani house tends to sit against a pillar, a narrow strip beside a doorway or a window that is taller than it is wide, and a landscape panel there either overhangs or shrinks to fit. A portrait board reads as one column top to bottom, which suits a list. What it is not is a rotated landscape design: turning a wide layout on its side re-wraps every line, so the board is authored in the shape the screen is mounted in.
How do I mount a screen in portrait safely?
Three checks before drilling. The bracket has to allow rotation, which most VESA plates do but some fixed ones do not. The panel itself has to be rated for portrait: many consumer TVs are not, because heat rises differently through a rotated panel and the warranty often says so in a line people skip. And the cables have to leave the set without a tight bend at the new bottom edge. A commercial signage panel is usually rated for both orientations, which is one of the real things the premium buys.
What should a biryani board list?
The varieties, priced, and the portion each price buys. Biryani is sold by the plate, the half kilo and the handi depending on the shop, and a board that does not say which is the one thing customers will ask at the counter every time. Four varieties is a full screen. If the dum timing or the handi size is the thing you are known for, that is a line under the name, not a paragraph.
How do I handle sold out on a board like this?
Strike the line and leave the price. Biryani sells out by definition, often before the evening, and the whole reason counters end up with a handwritten sign is that a printed board cannot say so. A struck line answers the question before it is asked and takes one tap from whoever is at the counter, which is the only way it actually gets done during a rush.
